Many  online gaming services still charge high fees for the privilege of using their servers to play online games! It is not wrong by any means for them to charge access fees... they have the expenses of paying for upkeep and upgrades on the equipment which run their services. However, if you're like me, I think we'd all agree it's better to spend the money on more and better games than more opponents when possible. ICQ is what I use to setup TCP/IP games online. I open a chat room and pull all the players into the room, the IP# of the host and game information is given to all the players, it makes it very easy to setup multi-player games. ICQ is a free beta at this time and has several player lists that are divided into categories so you can always find contacts to chat and play games with.
